Hi, I'm Wye

This is my Tired Millennial journey. Exploring new paths to stay sane and visible in the new grind.

How you can benefit

Imagine doing less for more and living life to the fullest. Hold that thought. But here’s the hard truth: we’re entering an era that challenges this very idea. A time where to achieve the same outcomes as today, we’ll have to work harder, longer, and faster. Not only are we competing with our peers, but also with AI, in a race to stay relevant.Welcome to the new grind. As a Millennial born in 1988, I’ve witnessed the transition from fax machines to iPhones. I’ve seen how we’ve lost the ability to disconnect, unlike our parents. I've experienced the exhaustion of longer hours and frequent overtime, only to accomplish less significant milestones than previous generations - despite having more formal education. The problem? We’re using an old map in a new world, and it’s wearing us out. This realization pushed me to start Tired Millennials on October 22nd, 2024, just three months after I was laid off from my role as a Tech Lead at a FinTech company in Singapore. A company where I was part of the founding team and worked tirelessly for 7 years. That layoff was my wake-up call.At first, I felt lost. My identity was too tied to my job, and without it, I was anxious and sleepless. Why? I was unprepared for the change - a byproduct of the endless grind, worsened by the post-pandemic layoffs (which are still happening). But with time, something surprising happened. As I distanced myself from the hustle, my mind cleared. I felt free. I realized that I had countless opportunities to prepare for this moment, but I had been too burned out to seize them. And that’s where my mission began.Through my lens as a Software Engineer, I see a future where AI will challenge nearly every job, not just in tech but across all industries. To remain competitive, many of us will feel the pressure to work harder - often to the point of burnout. But burnout isn’t the answer. When we base our lives on career survival alone, constantly worrying about employment, the next promotion or the next deadline, we can’t live life to the fullest. And that’s the true challenge we face today. So, what’s the solution? We need a healthier, more sustainable approach to work. We need to align our mental well-being with our professional goals so that we can thrive, not just survive. The thought I asked you to keep in mind earlier - living life to the fullest - remains our ultimate goal.On this journey, I’ll be building tools using my engineering skills, with a focus on work and digital well-being as well as personal branding for the new era. These tools, along with practical habits and life hacks, are designed not just for me, but for anyone who wants to take control of their life.By following my journey, you’ll get to see what works and what doesn’t, without taking any risks yourself. You’ll benefit from the lessons I learn, without having to go through the struggles. And no, not everything I create will be a complex tech tool. Sometimes, the simplest habits are enough to bring the change we need. But rest assured, every tool I build will be easy to use and created with your needs in mind - backed by my 10 years of experience designing user-friendly products that solve real problems. If you’ve read this far, thank you. I hope what I’ve shared has struck a chord with you. Now, let’s take control of our lives together and work towards living fully, without being worn out by the grind.
